Friday Fractured Thought | Milwaukee Wedding Photographer

- Another week done...and closer to the end of summer. This summer has FLEW by. Just ridiculous. I have never been busier, work related or otherwise. New home, new city, new clients, new everything. Lots of change and I am going to kind of welcome the calm of fall.

- That being said, I sat down to figure out the rest of my season and prepare...and realized I still have TWELVE weddings before the end of the year. Holy cannoli! And for all the upcoming brides that may be concerned about my current "delicate" state (I've gotten a few emails...), not to worry, I will not be too pregnant to shoot your weddings!

- I wanted to put a quick plug out there. About a year or so ago, I...along with some other local photogs...were inquiring about there being workshops in the midwest. Yes, there are local workshops, which are great, but it kind of seemed like those folks out in So. Cal were having one every week. Local tog Mandie Haberman got on it and this September she will be hosting Portland photographer Brandon Perron at her home in Madison. His workshop (or FAILshop, as he calls it) is all about learning through failure. There will be areas on pricing, marketing, shooting, style, lots of areas covered. There are STILL openings for this workshop, so check it out and register @ http://www.photogshops.com/index2.php#/gallery1/3/

- Speaking of workshops and the like, I'm super excited to be joining Andrea Paradowski, Stephanie Natale, and Alex Hanson at WPPI- Chicago next month. Very jazzed, since I can't attend the actual WPPI this year (Second Shooter will be too-newbish at that point). This will hopefully be enough to tide me over until 2012...because then...my friends...we party.

- ANNND...speaking of super-awesome photo-friends and Second Shooter, I have to extend a very heart-felt thank you to those who attended Wednesday night's CLASS @ Mandie's house and surprised me (like, literally...it took me awhile to notice I was standing right next to the cake!) with baby socks and a "Second Shooter is a Girl!" cake. Very thoughtful!

- Bookings are filling up, and fall is almost closed for bookings. So, getting those Christmas Card shoots in is better done sooner rather than later. I know...you don't want to think about snow and stuff, believe me. But, I'd hate to see people miss out on good dates!

- I got the confirmation this week, so it's probably cool that I spill the beans early on this one: I'm a member of WPPI and for their September 2010 newsletter (and website) they will be featuring the Kindred Spirits Hospice Program under their "Photolanthropy" feature. I am SUPER excited about this. They will be showing some of the Kindred Spirits work I've done and talking about the program. It's great exposure for my little hometown project and this just thrills me to no end. I will be sure to link the bejesus out of it once it "drops".

- This pregnancy's "food du jour" seems to be shifting. It had been bagels, for-ev-er. Which, while mighty tasty, ran me the risk of packing on the poundage like mad. Oh, carb heaven. So, now the baby seems to want Count Chocula cereal. Which is oh-so-good. They only sell it at Woodman's apparently, so the Woodman's folks are getting to know me pretty well. I've been there twice already this week to get my Chocula fix.

Up this week: Tonight was supposed to be a fun family sitting, but was postponed again due to the cruddy weather, so that was moved to Thursday. Tomorrow is a Milwaukee wedding @ Gesu Church and The Wisconsin Club, and next week I have a senior session as well. Spread the word to seniors you know, there is still time to book!

And here it is, your moment of Zen......I mean Betty.....

Vintage dress compliments of hubby's Aunt Julie, who knows the key to my heart: vintage frocks. I just picked up a pair of pink knit knee socks for Betty off Etsy that I cannot WAIT to get on her for another shoot. Once things slow down I'll have to set something up.
