New Beloit Daily News Ad!
My first print ad will be coming out in the Beloit Daily News Bridal Guide this Saturday! I'm so excited!
I tried to put a picture of the ad here....but ugh, I'm too lazy to convert the file to JPEG right now...so you'll just have to wait! LOL
I have an engagement session for one of my brides coming up next weekend and the weather is looking to be very beautiful so they should look lovely.
Today we're heading to the zoo! It's a little cool out but should be a fun time. I will be sure to post some pictures from Betty's 1st zoo visit tonight!

A Memorial Day Gathering
I was invited to shoot a party and family sitting for J and her family. J met me through a bridal shower I had previously shot at her home. It was a fun shoot and her family is so nice. I got some nice shots and hope J enjoys her package of pictures.
Here's a sneak peek!
Bookings are quickly filling up and I'm excited for this busy time to start!

She's Got Bette Davis Eyes
Yes, I'm still here! I've been SUPER busy this week helping out at my daughter's daycare. I have to say that I have a strong appreciation for our nation's childcare workers. Whatever they are making it's not enough. I've never been so exhausted!
On the Type A Images front, things are really going well. Bookings are filling up. I have a family shoot this weekend that I promise to post a few shots from once I'm done. It's supposed to be beautiful this weekend so this should make for some great pictures for my client.
I ordered some pretty teal proof boxes and can't wait to fill them up with pictures!
And, because no blog entry should be without a picture, here are some shots I took today of Miss Betty. Enjoy!

Green Grass and New Teeth
Already an exciting weekend and it's not even close to being over. My husband and I spent a night in Chicago and saw Eddie Izzard live. If you're not familiar with Mr. Izzard's work I highly recommend picking up his stage show "Dress to Kill". The show was fabulous and we had 2nd row center pit seats which were amazing. We stayed at a really nice downtown hotel (thank you Hilton points!) and had a nice dinner at the Ritz.
We got back and picked up Peanut in Beloit and had a chance to take some nice pictures. I got my new SB400 flash in the mail and I was pretty jazzed over my new toy!

Welcome Home Daddy!
She was very excited to see daddy!
Today was my FIRST Mother's Day. I didn't do much but hang out with my Betty and my husband. Nothing too exciting, since it was pretty nasty out. I'm looking forward to it getting nice so we can get to Boerner Bottanical Garden and take some pictures!

A Little Q A Little A
I pilfered this off a photog's blog and thought it would be a nice way for any future clients (I know you're out there!) to get to know me a bit.
Plus...I'm bored.
1. What is your name?
Amanda
2. Where are you from?
I grew up in a little city in Wisconsin called Beloit and I now call Milwaukee home. I adore Milwaukee. It has a big city feel without the big city price or headache.
3. Is photography your full time job?
I wouldn't exactly call it a "job" yet. I kind of fell into it and I'm deciding to make a go of it after some "changes" in my job situation....ha ha. No time like the present! Right now I'm a stay-at-home-mommy and a hobbyist making my way to semi-pro I guess.
4. How did you get into photography?
Kind of by accident. I always loved taking pictures, but my husband got me a digital SLR for Christmas this year and I just fell in love. There was a major sense of satisfaction of turning out beautiful images with my new gift. Turns out I actually had an "eye" for photography...so I decided to run with it. I love having a camera in my hand.
5. Did you go to school for photography?
Nope...not yet. I'm finishing up my BS in Sociology right now and I'm hoping to take a photo class or two soon.
6. What is your favorite subject to shoot?
Babies and kids. They are natural hams. I love catching wide eyes and funny expressions.
7. How long have your been photographing?
Not long at all, but I've taken to it. I started getting more serious about it about 3 months ago.
8. Have you learned a lot about photography?
A bit, but I would love to learn more. I love learning a new skill and applying it immediately to see what I get.
9. What's in your camera bag?
Nikon D40X camera
2 Lenses
1 gig memory card
4 gig memory card
Battery and battery charger
Pen and small notebook (for notes)
Business cards
10. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I don't know....things change so quickly with me. My initial plan was to be working full time in social work. I'd still like to do that eventually, because I think social work is incredibly important. But, the love I've developed for photography should probably not be ignored. I'd also like to have one or two more kids and a bigger house.
11. Are you married?
I am. It'll be 2 years in July
12. Who photographed your wedding?
The amazing Patrick and Tracy O' Connell from Expressive Photography out of Mequon. They are excellent.
13. As a bride, what is one piece of advice you would give a new bride?
Invest in your photography, it's the only thing you really have left at the end of the day.
14. How did you come up with your company name?
It's kind of an "inside joke" in a way. My name starts with A, so that applies. I went with "Type A" because it's a personality type that centers around perfectionism and strong concentration/control. I wanted it to be reflected that I strive for perfection. Also, I thought it was kind of funny, because I'm a definite "Type A" person.
15. What color is your hair?
Ugly blonde and brown. I'm getting it done this week. It NEEDS it.
16. What is your favorite drink?
Mountain Dew.
17. Do you have a favorite TV show?
I have many favorites. The mainstays are Scrubs, The Office, 30 Rock, and Jeopardy. Scrubs is ending forever this week and I am incredibly sad.
18. Do you have any kids?
Yes, my frequent model and muse Betty
20. What else can you tell us that not many people know about you?
Eh, I'm kind of an open book so I don't harbor many secrets. I served Johnny Cash a slushie once. That's pretty exciting.

Studying Angles
I spent part of my night in my hallway playing with ISO and working with some different angles. Also, capturing a newly crawling Peanut.

Marketing 101
I spent the last two days with family, spreading Type A Images business cards around the stateline. My mother-in-law made up really cute cards to hang up at her credit union and hand out with her Mary Kay orders that has my real business card attached.
So, look for Type A Images around the Wisconsin/Illinois stateline area!
Also, Once Upon a Child in Brookfield has allowed me to advertise in their store, so look for my business cards there as well!
I'm really excited about hopefully getting some more work and to start shooting more.
And because every blog entry should have a picture, here is one I took of Bets and my mom yesterday.
